The Lind presents the rarely-produced sparkling comedy “Arms and the Man” by George Bernard Shaw (author of “Pygmalion”).
The cast is a talented mix of Lind regulars and newcomers, directed by Joy Hinckley, who will bring this clever “anti-romcom” alive. Set and costume design by Anne Grant will make the production a visual treat.
Dreamy heroine Raina is searching for a pure and romantic Higher Love, and has found it in her fiancé, the noble and dashing war hero Sergius.
So when Bluntschli, a tattered and not very dashing at all enemy soldier takes refuge in her bedroom after fleeing a battle, there’s no way he could ever compete for her affections or could he?
Throw in some aspirational parents, and a pair of servants with their own agendas, and the stage is set for fun.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Shaw without some sharp satire and social commentary thrown into the mix.
